Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk meets with Patriarch Abuna Paul of Ethiopia

On September 14, 2010, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s department for external church relations, met with Patriarch Abuna Paul of Ethiopia. In a warm and friendly atmosphere they discussed topical problems of inter-Christian cooperation and made a high assessment of the relations that used to tie the two Churches in the past.

The head of the Church of Ethiopia informed his high guest about his Church’s status in the society and present day tasks and challenges.

Saint Euphemia was from Chalcedon and lived in virginity. According to some, she suffered martyrdom during the reign of Diocletian, in 303; according to others, in 307. Her sacred relics are preserved in the Patriarchate in Constantinople.

One of the immediate plans of ORTHODOX-CULTURE is the creation of a cultural foundation. The aim of the foundation will be to support the very distant and secluded Holy monasteries and churches, which remain “off the beaten track” for tourism and which also receive almost no financial support by the governments of their countries.
